The camp is located in a pristine wilderness area on the western side of the Delta, within half a million acres of private concession. The camp is named in memory of Randall Moore’s legendary elephant ABU, the star of such motion pictures as “White Hunter Black Heart” and “The Power of One”. Abu, an Arabic word meaning “everything to do with elephants”, led the Abu herd for eleven years before his death in December 2002.
Abu Camp offers a tranquil shady corner of heaven, with the main dining area winding around African Ebony and Sycamore Fig trees offering incredible views across the floodplains. Accommodation is in luxurious custom-designed tents, raised on teak decking and overlooking the lagoon. All the tents are stylishly and individually furnished with mahogany four-poster beds or antique sleigh beds. Each tent has an en-suite bathroom complete with copper or porcelain baths, shower and flush toilet. The camp offers a ratio of four staff to each guest ensuring the best of attention and service.
