Mombo Camp is located in the Mombo Concession, on the northern tip of Chief’s Island within the Moremi Game Reserve. The area boasts enormous concentrations of plains game and predators which begin virtually on Mombo’s decks, with the surrounding floodplains teeming with game year-round.
Mombo’s nine spacious en-suite tents are raised two metres from the ground providing excellent views, with a long veranda, a sala and indoor and outdoor showers. The camp's main living, bar and dining areas are under thatch, while the boma adds traditional flavour to delicious dinners under the stars. There are two plunge pools in which to soak and a gym to work off the excellent food.
The main living and dining area is under thatch and there is a boma for traditional dinners, small library and a plunge pool to relax in the heat of the day. Large concentrations of plains game often occur in front of camp and guests may view a variety of animals without even leaving the veranda. Informative game drives explore the savannah and floodplain mosaics of Chief’s Island with prolific wildlife viewing opportunities.
Highlights
Arguably the best big game viewing in all of Africa
Bountiful hunting ground for large prides of lion and star-struck leopard
A sumptuous and luxurious camp in the midst of the Delta
The Mombo Concession is known as the “place of plenty”, highlighted by the massive concentrations of plains game and predators that can be seen. These include all the big cats, of which lion sightings are frequent. You can also expect to see leopard and cheetah, spotted hyaena, large herds of buffalo, elephant, white rhino, giraffe, blue wildebeest, Burchell's zebra and much more. Birdlife is prolific around Mombo with African jacana, pygmy-geese, goliath heron and migrant waders in summer being particularly common.
Activities:
Viewing the high concentrations of plains game and all the predators – including the big cats – is the order of a day at Mombo.
Game drives via open 4x4 Land Rovers each accommodate a maximum of six or seven guests, allowing each guest a 'window' seat. Please not that as we are in Moremi Game Reserve, night drives are not possible at Mombo Camp.
Hide- There is a hide 20 minutes from camp from which you can view and photograph animals and birds.
Gym - For those looking to exercise, there is a gym with an incredible view where you can sweat it up.
Massage Treatments - In-room massage treatments are probably the best ways in which to relax and restore within the comfort of your room or private deck.
