Bilimungwe Bushcamp

Bilimungwe Bushcamp is a cosy camp offering an authentic safari experience in the knowledgeable hands of our guides and camp team.

The heart of camp is the rustic lounge area set beneath a huge winterthorn tree and looking out over a shady waterhole – an establishment favoured by local warthogs, elephant and other thirsty game.

When it comes to wildlife-watching at Bilimungwe, it’s hard to know where to look first – choose from the tangle of mahogany trees surrounding camp, the nearby plain where leopard prowl, the popular waterhole, or the open waters of the Luangwa River. Put simply, this is a nature-lover’s paradise, and with our professional guides to lead you, you could not be in better hands.

Two of the tents have twin beds (queen-sized beds) and two have doubles (king-sized bed). Bilimungwe is open from May to December.

Raised Thatched Rooms (4 rooms)

Bilimungwe’s four raised thatched rooms have been carefully designed to ensure the height of comfort whilst still retaining that authentic bushcamp feel, each with magnificent views of one or two of the three watering holes. The tangle of mature mahogany trees that surround camp are echoed in the rich, wood interiors and the beautiful wooden furniture, handmade by local artisans. Bright African textiles bring splashes of colour to the elegant rooms.

After an early morning game drive, head back to your room for a refreshing, open-air waterfall shower, or continue the wildlife spectacle from your private deck. Two of the chalets have twin beds (queen-sized beds) and two have doubles (king-sized bed).

The lounge and dining area is built on stilts around a large, old termite mound, under an ancient mahogany tree which provides ample shade from the hot sunshine. Bilimungwe has a secret breakfast spot on the edge of Luangwa Valley, perfect to watch the sun rise over the Chindeni hills. Bilimungwe sleeps up to eight guests and is open from May to December.
