Marakapula is a Big 5 game reserve just outside the Kruger Park. Community-owned and private, the reserve is peaceful and uncrowded, characterised by flowing rivers and large, boulder hills. Makubu Lodge is located on the Selati River within the reserve. Its location speaks for itself as the dark green waters flow deeply in front of the lodge and the 7 thatched chalets that spread out along its banks.
Giant fig trees and a flourish of greenery surround the lodge on both sides of the river. Activities within the reserve include game drives, bush walks, birding, and fishing. One of the best things about this unique reserve is its close proximity to Kruger - the Phalaborwa gate is a mere 20 minute drive away, making Marakapula an ideal Kruger destination with added luxury and privacy.
