Serian's Kimya Kimya
Alex Walker’s Serian Camp is located in the Mara River region of the Northern Serengeti. It is normally reached by air to the Serengeti Kogatende Airstrip which is within 30 minutes’ drive. It is normally open from June to November to take advantage of the huge herds of the Great Migration which frequent this area during these months.
SERIAN (meaning “peaceful, calm or serene” in the Maa language of the Maasai people) is the charismatic bush home of Alex Walker, filmmaker and guide in the Serengeti and Maasai Mara. It is an exclusive bush camp that flanks a secluded valley located in the Mara River area of the Serengeti. The private marquee tents are set in the shade of large walburgia trees that cover the site, a tranquil setting that borders one of the finest Game Reserves in the world.
8 luxury (including one family) marquees, each unique in their own way furnished with large double beds, flanked by bedside tables and writing desks, the adjoining "bush bathrooms" include a bucket shower, twin basins and a flush ceramic toilet. Hanging swathes of cotton and canvas walls provide complete privacy. The Mess deck and indoor fireplace leave guests with the impression of having found a home from home!
