Today the Robertson Wine Valley is regarded as one of South Africas premium wine destinations along a scenic, flower fringed wine route. Here you will find more then 50 famous wine houses as Van Loveren, Springfield, De Wethof, Bon Courage and Graham Beck, to name a few. These friendly wineries excel in hospitality and you are welcome to visit their cellars and to taste their wines and get their interesting information.

On request there are lunches or small platters available, and for evening dinners the owners can recommend many of the surrounding restaurants. From fine dining to simple, but delicious, dinners are available in Swellendam and you will find an extensive list with the (local) specialities each restaurant has to offer in your room.

Swellendam is the third oldest town in South Africa and its centre boasts with historical buildings.
The award winning Drostdy Museum offers the interested visitor an extensive overview of the history covered in- and outside its buildings. An explained historic walking tour is available.
Swellendam and its surroundings attracts many artists to live in and therefore you will find a lot of galleries and art exhibitions here , which make it a pleasure to browse around in town.

The nearby Bontebok National Park is a nice place to see game and birds and to relax on the riverside of the Breede River. In the Marloth Nature Reserve the views are spectacular.
If the town is not big enough for you, you can make endless road trips, of which the mountain tour over the Tradouw Pass is a favorite. Another favorite daytrip is the day trip to De Hoop Nature Reserve.
Take the fully stocked picknick basket with you and drive the scenic route through the rolling fields of the Overberg to this white dunes sea side area on the Indian Ocean. Loads of whales can be spotted in the season, and the natural beaches and coves belongs for many as one of the most beautiful and romantic spots in the world.

Active golfers won't be disappointed by playing the 9 holes golf course (soon to be extended to 18 holes), beautifully situated with spectacular views over the Langeberg Mountains. A hidden gem for routine golf players and you will feel welcome to play here.

Horse riding can be organised in the nearby Langeberg Mountains, tailor made tours available for experienced and first time riders.

Swellendam is a paradise for hikers, trained or untrained and we will supply you with tailor made suggestions. On the door step there are the mountains of the Marloth Nature Reserve with walks to waterfalls and an abundance of wild flowers. Also nearby the Bontebok National Park, cradled between the Langeberg Mountains and the Breede River. The park is home to the rare Bontebok, but there are also zebras, rehbok,grysboks, red hartebeest and it lots of birdlife. Swimming and pick nicks are possible on the banks of the river.

For the young ones there is the renowned Sulina Faerie Sanctuary, to find themselves in the dreamworld of elfs, pixies and gnomes.

In berry picking season the berry farms of the nearby Hermitage Valley are open to everyone who like to pick and hear how the berries end up in delicious jams, liquors and sauces.
