Trip Summary

Pretoria is the political heart of South Africa and is where you will find many of the state’s important buildings and monuments such as the Voortrekker Monument, a symbol of South Africa’s Afrikaans people, commemorating the early Boers that undertook the long trek from the Cape into the interior. Pretoria is also home to South Africa’s Union Buildings, where the laws of Apartheid were established as well as dismantled. The city is filled with nods to South Africa’s rich history and is definitely worth a day trip to explore its historic streets.
