Day 1: Cape Town
Arrive at Cape Town International Airport. You will be met by your private guide for transfer to the Cape Grace Hotel situated in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront.
Check into your accommodation upon arrival and enjoy some time at leisure before setting off the The Stack for a welcome talk and video presentation on conservation in Africa over a wonderful glass of wine followed by a sumptuous dinner with your local hosts. The Stack is a chic bistro styled restaurant / bar situated in a historic building.
You will return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 2: Cape Town
You will depart on a full day exploring the Cape Peninsula. The day will be filled with breathtaking views of this amazing stretch of African coastline mixed with wildlife and great local experiences. Your guide will take you down to the Cape of Good where you will visit this famous section of the Table Mountain National Park with its great examples of fynbos (the local vegetation that forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom) mixed beautiful coastal scenery and some wildlife such as the bontebok, eland, baboon, ostrich, the Cape mountain zebra and ostriches.
You will continue onto Boulders Beach where you will not only encounter a beautiful beach but also home to African Penguin. You will be able to see these flightless birds within close proximity in a complete protected area.
You will stop for lunch at midday in a quaint harbor called Kalk Bay where you will see the fisherman on the pier with the fishing boats in the background.
You will return to the city center via Chapman's Peak, a scenic coastal drive with amazing views of the Atlantic Ocean. The drive will take you through Hout Bay and onto Camps Bay where you will have a spectacular view of the 12 Apostles, the Atlantic side of the Back Table.
You will end your tour of ascending Table Mountain via the Cable Car where you will enjoy a wonderful sundowner.
You will return to the hotel and enjoy dinner at one of the many good eateries in the city (cost of the dinner not included).
Day 3: Cape Town
You will be collected from the hotel after an early breakfast and depart on a full day tour combining the city center and the Cape Winelands. You will start with a walk through the Company Gardens, past the Parliament of South Africa, the historic St George's Cathedral and onto the Greenmarket Square with its lively atmosphere and African craft market. You will continue onto the Bo-Kaap area and learn about its rich history and it mutli-colored facades.
You will continue onto the Cape Winelands area with a visit to the De Toren Wine Estate where you will have a personalized wine tasting experience, tasting some of the best wines in South Africa. You will experience the cellar as well as the vineyard during your visit to the estate and have the opportunity to have a great insight into the this iconic wine estate.
You will continue onto lunch at the majestic Delaire Graff Wine Estate (not included in the cost). This is an immaculate estate that exudes opulence with beautifully manicured gardens, pristine vineyards, amazing facilities and incredible food.
You will continue onto the town of Stellenbosch, the oldest town in South Africa, where you will drive through the town and view some of the amazing architecture of the town dating back to the Cape Dutch and Victorian eras.
You will continue onto the Waterford Wine Estate where you will enjoy a wine safari. This experience will include exploring the vineyards in open safari vehicle and tasting the estates excellent wines within the vineyard on different locations. This is one of the best way to experience the true sense of the local terrior as well as enjoying the amazing views (on a clear day you can even see Table Mountain in the distance). During the visit to the estate you will also visit the cellar and the barrel rooms as well as partaking in a combination pairing of the Waterford wines and some specially crafted chocolates.
We will return to the hotel and enjoy a farewell dinner at the Signal Restaurant, enjoying some of the excellent wines of the owner of Iconic Journeys which he stores in the hotel's cellar.
Day 4: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
You will be collected after an early breakfast by your guide for transfer to the Cape Town International Airport.
Depart on your scheduled flight to the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone, Zambia. You will be collected on your arrival and taken to the Thorntree River Lodge situated on the banks of the mighty Zambezi River.
Check into your accommodation and enjoy some lunch and some time at leisure. You will have the opportunity to enjoy an afternoon Sunset River Cruise on which you will have the possibility to view hippopotamus, crocodile, elephant, a variety of antelope and bird species. The river is a interesting way to enjoy the afternoon and start you romance with the true Africa.
You will enjoy some sundowner drinks on the boat during your cruise as the sun sets and return to the lodge straight afterward. You will have some time to refresh before sitting down to an amazing dinner.

Day 5: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
You will depart the morning after breakfast to the Victoria Falls on the Zambian side for a tour of the Falls. You will get an insight into the history of David Livingstone as he arrived into this area. Explore not only one of the greatest waterfalls on earth, but its place in history from the earliest residents to the first European Visitor, the building of the bridge and the many colorful characters that passed this way in time. This is a fascinating slice of Africa’s story that will leave you with a deeper understanding of the continent's Past, Present and Future set against the backdrop of the one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
Continue onto the helipad from where you will depart on a helicopter flight to enjoy a “birds-eye-view” of the Falls and the myriad of channels between the island in the main river. The Zambezi River will be in full flow and the spectacle of the mist of Mosi-oa-Tunya (local name for the Falls meaning “the smoke that thunders”) will tower almost 1000 feet into the air above the Falls. The flight will be a duration of around 12-15 minutes and allow for good photographic opportunities.
Return back to the lodge and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure with lunch served at the lodge. The afternoon you will again explore the surrounding river systems in search of hippopotamus, elephants, antelope and so much more.
Dinner will be served at the lodge under the stars or in the main dining area.
Day 6: Livingstone (Victoria Falls)
Depart the morning after breakfast to track Rhino on foot in the Mosi-oa-tunya National Park, not too far from the lodge. The park hosts some of the few white rhinos in Zambia and you will be able to track them on foot to get a good look from close-up. Poaching in Zambia lead to nearly wiping out the specie completely out of the country with just some specimens available for viewing in the North Luangwa and the Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park. You will continue onto visiting a local village for a look into the local culture, how they live on a daily basis and their age-old traditions still followed today. You will return to the lodge and enjoy some time to relax and lunch in the main area.
The afternoon you can enjoy some fishing or a boat ride on the Zambezi or even just enjoy the magnificent facilities.
Dinner will be served in the lodge.
Day 7: Hwange National Park
You will enjoy breakfast at the lodge before being transferred to Victoria Falls Airport on the Zimbabwean Side. If the water levels are low as per the periods of October to December then we will include a visit on the Zimbabwean side of the Falls.
Take a scheduled light aircraft flight from Victoria Falls Airport to the Manga Airstrip in the Hwange National Park. This is an amazing national famous for its high concentration of game (especially elephants).
You will be met by your guide at the airstrip for transfer to Somalisa Camp, a nice tented camp with all the facilities that you require to still take you back to the original old school tented African safari.
You settle into your safari tent and enjoy some lunch before departing on your first safari game drive in specially adapted safari vehicles. Your guide is expertly trained to search for the best possible game sightings which can include buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion, cheetah, zebra giraffe, big variety of other animal species.
You will return to the camp and enjoy a drink by the fire before sitting down to a hearty dinner under the stars. You will settle in for the night to be up early for the next day's safari at first light.

Day 8: Hwange National Park
You will enjoy a full day in the Hwange National Park with morning and afternoon safari activities. Your safari activities will include safari game drives in open sided 4x4 vehicles or game walks accompanied by your armed safari guide (this is the best way to learn about the little things such as the animal tracks, the uses for plants by the locals and so much more).
Hwange National Park is famed for being the home of Cecil The Lion, which created media frenzy. We will try to track the lions that remains of his pride and see how they are getting along.
The rest of the day can be spent at leisure either catching up on some reading, taking a siesta or lazing around the pool of the camp. You might even be lucky to experience the elephants drinking and bathing right in front of camp thus giving you a real armchair safari whilst in camp.
You breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided in camp and will be expertly crafted to ensure that your safari experience is enhanced by some real good food.
Day 9: Hwange National Park
You will enjoy breakfast at Somalisa Camp before setting out with a picnic lunch for the day to visit the Air Shepherd team!
You will enjoy a safari game drive en-route to visiting the Air Shepherd drone team in Hwange National Park. You will have the opportunity to interact with the drone team, understand our methods and view some of our equipment -- including some of the game changing drones! You will experience the great work that Air Shepherd is doing on the ground and develop a deeper understanding of how we use advanced drones to save elephants and rhinos from poaching.
Select participants will have the opportunity to accompany the drone team overnight on one of their missions. Enquire to find out how you can be a part of this exclusive opportunity.
After spending quality time with the Air Shepherd drone team, you will return to camp for dinner.

Day 10: Hwange National Park
You will spend the day out exploring the Hwange National Park with safari game drives. You will visit the Mambanje Village where you will interact with the locals and also see how they have decided to get involved in projects to improve their coexistence with wildlife. The Lion Guardians constructed Bomas to ensure the cattle does stays away from the lions and other predators and it is amazing to see how simple changes can ensure that man and beast can live together.
You will return to Somalisa Camp with an afternoon game drive to the camp.
Dinner will be served back at the camp.
Day 11: Departure
You will enjoy a last morning safari activity followed by breakfast before being transferred to the airstrip by your guide for your scheduled light aircraft flight to the Victoria Falls Airport.
You will connect with your scheduled flight back to the OR Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg , South Africa. You will be met by a handler on arrival as you exit the aircraft door to VIP Fasttrack you through the airport and onto your international flight back home.
