Today you get to try your hand at husky mushing! These hardworking dogs can pull up to five times their weight and will be ready and waiting to give you a speedy ride – so best hold tight. With your own husky team and a passenger seated in the sleigh, set off on the track through the forest following the safety guide.

Day 3: Pyhä-Luosto National Park

Day 4: Pyhä-Luosto National Park

Another unique experience awaits you today – ice fishing! Drill a hole in the ice with a giant corkscrew and drop your baited line in and hope that today’s your lucky day. Enjoy hot berry juice around the fire.

Day 5: Pyhä-Luosto National Park

Another new and unique experience awaits you today – visiting the Northernmost Amethyst mine in the world. This mine contains a rich deposit and with the careful conservation methods of the present owners, mining can continue for another 200 years. The mine is situated on top of the fell (small mountain) providing the most spectacular view of the surrounding countryside. Even the transfer to the Mine is different – in a carriage behind a snow tractor! Armed with a small pick, dig for your own lucky stone. This evening you have a presentation on the Northern Lights and then take a walk with your guide in search of the Lights. The Lights are visible 200 days a year so you might just be lucky and tonight could be one of those nights!

Day 6: Pyhä-Luosto National Park

And now to meet Lapland’s reindeers. These days all reindeers are owned by reindeer farmers although they are permitted to roam free in the forests. Sitting around a fire in a cosy cabin with a hot drink, learn about reindeer husbandry. And then it’s time for you reindeer sleigh ride. Unlike the huskies, the reindeers are not in such a hurry so this will be relaxing sedate ride through the forest. So relaxing, you may even nod off.

Day 7: Pyhä-Luosto National Park
