Located off the west coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula, Danco Island was discovered by Adrien de Gerlache with the Belgian Antarctic Expedition. The island is positioned in the middle of the breathtakingly beautiful Errara Channel. It is a popular stop along the Antarctic expedition tourist route. It is one of the most sheltered spots in Antarctica and is usually very easily accessible by zodiac boat. Visitors can climb the snowy slopes along the shoreline, soak up the spectacular views of the icy winter wonderland and observe the large colony of Gentoo penguins.
