Right next to Monkeyland in The Crags outside Plettenberg Bay, you will find Birds of Eden. It is the world’s largest free-flight bird aviary, standing 50m high and spanning across 23 000 square metres of forest. Visitors can immerse themselves into this paradise that houses over 280 species of birds, most of which are African. Visits are usually self-guided, as you stroll along the 2km stretch of boardwalk passing several ponds and an amphitheatre while bird-watching. Guided tours, however, can be arranged. You can also enjoy a meal at the Birds of Eden restaurant or buy souvenirs at their curio shop.
