Embark on a poignant journey to Robben Island, a symbol of South Africa’s turbulent past and a beacon of its commitment to human rights. The passage to the island is facilitated by the Robben Island Museum’s own ferries, the MV Krotoa and Sikhululekile, along with additional private vessels when necessary. The MV Krotoa, a robust vessel with an aluminium hull, 32.40m long and 8.5m wide, joined the fleet in 2019 and can transport up to 280 passengers. The Sikhululekile, slightly smaller at 31.3m by 9.0m, has been serving since 2008 and carries 260 passengers. These ferries are a vital link between Table Bay Harbour and the museum, ensuring a seamless connection for visitors and staff as part of the daily operations.
